About the Role
Reporting to the Technical Sales Manager, the Engineer, Technical Sales role melds technical engineering expertise with business acumen to drive sales and promote CAST CONNEX products and services. Acting as a vital link to our Engineering team, this person will lead and inspire Architects, Engineers, and Construction professionals to use cast steel components. They will develop and communicate compelling value propositions and project-relevant benefits to project stakeholders through design, construction, and completion. With an unwavering commitment to understanding and innovation, our Technical Sales team fosters meaningful long-term relationships and are trusted for their expertise and experience to transform architectural, structural, and constructability challenges into solutions.
The primary focus of the US-based role will be on projects designed within the USA, however built geographically agnostic.

Position Details and Requirements
• Client Engagement: Introduce CAST CONNEX’s products and services to clients in the AEC industry. Using a consultative sales process, discover their needs, build a strong value proposition, present thoughtful solutions and guide product specification.
• Relationship Building: Actively foster new and existing relationships while providing technical support at any stage of design, ensuring a match between the product capabilities and customer requirements. Demonstrate capable client-interfacing and effective relationship-building skills with designers and construction professionals and responsiveness and proactiveness in contacting clients and customers.
• Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with leadership, management and sales team to develop and execute sales strategies. Identify emerging markets and market trends and provide input on product development and innovation.
• Team Collaboration: Work with Marketing to ensure sales collaterals are compliant, complete, and current. Work with Engineering as needed to ensure quality solution and service delivery to clients.
• Technical Support: Provide pre-tender technical assistance and product education, and post-tender customer support.
• Sales Pipeline Management: Develop and maintain a sales opportunity pipeline in the CRM database along with accurate contact database, activity log, pipeline stage and forecasting.
o Brand Building: Generate brand awareness, create new leads, prospect opportunities, and foster relationships while exhibiting or attending US-based tradeshows and industry events.
o Education: Regularly deliver technical presentations about the benefits and value of our products through in-person & virtual meetings and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) presentations and webinars.
o Market Research: Prospect construction market intelligence and existing contact database for potential applications and opportunities.
• Pricing and Orders: Provide pricing to project stakeholders from early design development (budgetary) through post-contract award (quote) phases and ultimately secure purchase orders.
• Budget Management: Set and manage an annual budget for personal sales activities
• Engineering Expertise: Hold a strong foundation in the fundamentals of structural engineering and structural steel design. Train to understand products, services and manufacturing process to confidently support client inquiries. To possess focused experience in steel connection design, seismic design, and steelwork contracting is an asset.
• Problem Solving: Demonstrate ability to assess and analyze opportunities and propose or develop ideas and creative solutions
• Communication Skills: Effective public speaking and/or teaching skills (particularly in engineering, science, or architecture), strong written and oral communication, and excellent organization.
• Self-motivated: internally motivated with a proven ability to self-manage and multi-task, while also maintaining the ability to ask for and receive support as needed.
• Quality Management:
o Continual Improvement: Participate in and support improvement efforts focused on business performance. This includes areas for increased efficiency, and ideas to maximize spending ROI.
o Quality: Identify and communicate problems and provide input for solutions. Participate in the quality process and act as a customer advocate.
o Productivity: Propose and implement solutions related to increased efficiency and reduced costs.
Qualifications
• Minimum 4-year accredited degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering or related field. Advanced degree is a strong plus though not a requirement.
• Minimum 10 years experience in structural engineering. Candidates with advanced degrees are not held to this minimum.
• Understanding of the project delivery process in the AEC Industry.
• Previous technical sales experience is considered an asset but is not a requirement.
• Technology: Familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD, BIM, and FEA software packages. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe/Bluebeam. Experience with Salesforce or other CRM is an asset but not a requirement.
• Active member or leadership role in AEC industry organizations an asset.
