Innovative Steel Castings for NASA's Mobile Launcher [C4]

This presentation will explore the innovative use of cast steel nodes and flange fittings in the construction of NASA’s Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2), a key component of the Artemis Program. ML2, a 380-foot structure, supports the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft. We’ll discuss how incorporating cast steel nodes and flange fittings simplified fabrication, ensured optimal performance, and addressed challenges related to weight, stiffness, and construction tolerances.
