CAST CONNEX designed and supplied custom cast steel column base nodes to support the weight of the new Concourse A structure as part of the Destination CLT expansion at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The base nodes each weigh over 4,000-pounds and brace the structure against wind, seismic, and blast loading. The design of the cast steel column base also ensures the component will provide a 2-hour fire resistance rating without the need for intumescent coating of the casting. CAST CONNEX® Universal Pin Connectors™ + Architectural Tapers™ were also used in the AESS frames and trusses. CAST CONNEX’s products contribute to the building’s structural resilience and architectural expression.
