Ruth Cherry Elementary School
The new 102,000-square-foot elementary school for Royse City ISD consists of a two-story, steel-framed structure. The building features a radial design to take advantage of site topography. It also includes a structural steel entrance canopy with a tapered column system.
The series of V-shaped structural columns that adorn the entryway are fitted with CAST CONNEX® ArchitecturalTapers™ connecting at the top and CAST CONNEX® Architectural Tapers™ + Universal Pin Connectors™ at the bottom, creating an elegant taper. Inside the library, playful architecture continues by converting the building structure into an indoor forest. CAST CONNEX® Architectural Tapers™ connect to various columns, growing tree trunks and branches from steel supports.
