CAST CONNEX is honoured to receive an Innovation Award of Excellence from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats (CTBUH) for our custom-designed cast steel components in CIBC Square Tower II, Toronto. Three other landmark projects featuring our products have also received awards, recognizing innovation, engineering excellence, and architectural impact.
We are also proud to announce that our Vice President, USA and Director, UK Division, Jennifer Anna Pazdon, is serving as Chair of the Structures Award Jury and our North America Technical Sales Manager, Tarana Haque, will present on the Innovations Award.

CTBUH Innovation Award of Excellence for CAST CONNEX Custom Cast Steel Solution
– CIBC Square Tower II
CAST CONNEX is honored to receive CTBUH's 2025 Innovations Award of Excellence for the custom-designed cast steel solution for CIBC Square, Tower II. Our team strives for innovation and excellence in everything we do, and being selected by our peers for this award drives us to continue collaborating and creating inspired designs and teams.
CTBUH Construction and Structure Award of Excellence
– One Bloor West
Canada’s first “supertall” building, One Bloor West, stands 85 stories tall and features a dramatic 4-story atrium supported by massive diagonal mega-columns. CAST CONNEX collaborated with RJC Engineers and Walters Group to engineer High Integrity Blocks (HIBs)—multi-directional, solid steel components designed to resist complex tri-axial stress states. These HIBs carry over 200 mega-Newtons of gravity force, enabling the bold architectural vision.

CTBUH Best Tall Building by Region, Americas
– TD Terrace

The newly completed TD Terrace at 160 Front Street is a 47-storey steel-concrete hybrid high-rise that redefines Toronto’s skyline. Its crown features Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS) members joined by CAST CONNEX Diablo Bolted Splices (DBS)—custom-engineered for large diameter HSS members and installed without cover plates to highlight the tectonic beauty of steel.

CTBUH Repositioning Award of Excellence
– 2 Penn Plaza

The transformation of 2 Penn Plaza in New York introduces “the Bustle,” a double-storey podium supported by slanted 24-inch round HSS columns. CAST CONNEX supplied our largest standardized Universal Pin Connectors (UPC-24.00) to date, along with UPC-14.00s for AESS braces, enhancing both structural performance and architectural expression.
